Enables young people to explore career options while growing personally and professionally. Participants must be ages 14-24 and priority is given to low-income youths and those in foster care. A grant to participating employers covers the cost of wages or wage reimbursement and youths can earn up to $4,000 through the program and may have the opportunity to receive continued or full-time employment.

Youth Respite provides services to families of children identified as seriously emotionally disturbed (SED) or dually diagnosed as SED and Autism Spectrum Disorder who are two through fifteen (2-15) years of age. Respite consultants provide short-term respite, and work with the family to identify long-range respite resources. An Individualized Family Respite Plan (IFRP) is developed with the family. The IFRP may include short-term direct respite care by staff, identification of possible respite resources, and determination of child learning characteristics and behavior patterns that interfere with the family’s ability to secure respite. The respite consultant assists and enables the family to identify and develop community-based respite resources and works with families to help them utilize these resources effectively.

Youth Services focus on assisting out-of-school youth and in-school youth, ages 14-24 and with one or more barriers to employment, to prepare for post-secondary education and employment opportunities, attain educational and/or skills training credentials, and secure employment with career/promotional opportunities. The program is administered by TDLWD through local workforce development areas/boards and organizations.
