Program Description

Tennessee’s 1915(c) Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Waiver Programs are Medicaid waivers approved by the federal government to provide HCBS to individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. In particular, the waivers allow Tennessee to develop home and community-based services to meet the needs of people who prefer to get long-term care services and supports in their home or community, rather than in an institutional setting.

Research

Programs can support people with disabilities as well as other populations. In addition to housing, services are received on site. This is a lot like residential service options DDA provides such as supported living, in which community providers provide the support; each person also has conflict free case management through an assigned Independent Support Coordinator.
