Tennessee’s 1915(c) Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Waiver Programs are Medicaid waivers approved by the federal government to provide HCBS to individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. In particular, the waivers allow Tennessee to develop home and community-based services to meet the needs of people who prefer to get long-term care services and supports in their home or community, rather than in an institutional setting.

The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline offers 24/7 access to trained crisis counselors who can help people experiencing mental health-related distress such as: thoughts of suicide, mental health or substance use crisis, or any other kind of emotional distress. People can call or text 988 or chat 988lifeline.org for themselves or if they are worried about a loved one who may need crisis support.

The Absconder Unit is a team of investigators who continuously work with local and state law enforcement agencies to locate missing children/youth who have ran or absconded from DCS custody or supervision. The investigators spend most of their time in the communities looking for youth by responding to leads, making home/school visits, participating in surveillance or round ups and using online data bases to try and locate.

Access for All Learning Network (AALN) aims to ensure districts and school leaders are empowered to effectively meet the needs of students with disabilities in accessing high-quality instructional materials and instruction. Districts receive ongoing professional learning to identify access points and provide adequate scaffolds within high-quality instructional materials for students with disabilities. District leads engage in a series of learning opportunities, including a one-week summer workshop, monthly network meetings, quarterly communities of practice, opportunities for CORE Partnerships with English Language Arts (ELA) Consultants or Special Education Interventionists, Early Reading Training, and Secondary Literacy Training. Regional Access Coaches (RACs) provide on-site coaching to ensure workshop and network learning is generalized in the district or target schools.

The Addiction Recovery Program (ARP) provides recovery support services to service recipients that are recovering from life impairments because of substance use disorder(s) only or co-occurring disorders. Recovery support services include case management, drug testing, employment skills, health and wellness, recovery activities, recovery skills, relapse prevention, spiritual/pastoral support, transitional housing, and transportation.

The Adolescent Substance Use Disorders Services Program (ASUDSP) provides for the treatment of adolescents, 13–17 years old, with a primary alcohol or other drug abuse or dependency diagnosis or co-occurring substance use and psychiatric diagnosis. Services are provided on an as-needed basis and as applicable for each individual who meets the eligibility and income requirements for the program.

Adult Basic Education classrooms are equipped with certified teachers, tutors, and technology, including software to assess grade level and subject proficiency, as well as other software designed to assist students in preparing for testing. Offenders entering TDOC custody without a verifiable diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) are required to enter ABE. Offenders who are age 62 or older and those who can clinically support a reason why not to attend may sign a waiver excluding them from participation.

The Adult Basic Education program provides instruction in literacy, numeracy, English language, and workforce preparedness to adult learners who are basic skills deficient, are ESL, or who lack a high school diploma or equivalency. The program also provides workforce development opportunities to learners, including pre-apprenticeships, postsecondary prep or dual enrollment, integrated education and training, or workplace learning.

As a part of WIOA Title I, Adult Services provides Tennessee job seekers and others with job search assistant services and training opportunities and helps employers meet their workforce needs. It is implemented through local workforce development areas/boards and organizations. The Ag Growth Initiative is a set of grant programs designed to help farmers expand or improve their operations by providing industry representation and marketing opportunities. It includes the Statewide Agricultural Producer Association Grant Program and Farmers Market Grant Program. For example, the purpose of the latter is to increase income to Tennessee farmers by helping promote and/or improve farmers’ markets in communities throughout Tennessee, thereby helping farmers sell their locally grown farm fresh products directly to consumers.

The Agricultural Enterprise Fund (AEF) is a grant program that supports job creation and economic development in Tennessee’s agriculture and forestry sector. It supports efforts to increase farm income, boost access to markets, expand the capacity of existing agricultural and forestry businesses, and market new technological innovation with the potential to impact Tennessee’s agriculture or forest industry. Grants are provided to existing and start-up agricultural, food, and forestry businesses, nonprofits, local governments, and other entities in Tennessee.
