Program Description

Adult Basic Education classrooms are equipped with certified teachers, tutors, and technology, including software to assess grade level and subject proficiency, as well as other software designed to assist students in preparing for testing. Offenders entering TDOC custody without a verifiable diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) are required to enter ABE. Offenders who are age 62 or older and those who can clinically support a reason why not to attend may sign a waiver excluding them from participation.
