Program Description
Diabetes Prevention and Management Programs make it easier for people with prediabetes to participate in affordable, high-quality lifestyle change programs to reduce their risk of developing type 2 diabetes and improve their overall health. Through the program, partner organizations deliver CDC-recognized lifestyle change programs as well as diabetes self-management programs that help patients and families understand their condition, make informed decisions about care, and to engage in healthy behaviors.
Before 2023, the program was a combined cooperative agreement with Diabetes that was established in 2013.

The National Diabetes Prevention Program (National DPP), a lifestyle intervention program, is designed to help reduce the incidence of type 2 diabetes in the United States by teaching participants behavior modification strategies related to healthy eating, physical activity, weight loss, and stress reduction.
