Program Description
Outpatient Group Therapy consists at minimum of 150 hours for individuals with moderate to severe substance use disorders. Facilities can offer group therapy part time or full time depending on individual needs. In group therapy, individuals receive individual and group counseling. The focus is to address the criminogenic and addiction needs of the inmate. This can be associated with a reduction in the use of substances and leading to sustained recovery. Evidenced based components integrated within group therapy program are: Motivational Interviewing/ Stages of Change; TCU Mapping-Enhanced Counseling; Victim Impact; Motivational Enhancement Therapy; Anger Management (SAMHSA); Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Relapse Prevention.
