Program Description

Identifying and Managing Floodplain Risk works in conjunction with the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). This is a federal-based program that focuses on three primary goals: (1) establishing and maintaining geographic outline of high-risk flood areas; (2) managing the risk areas through floodplain management ordinances that aim to reduce future flood damage; and (3) provision of flood insurance as protection against flood losses.
