Program Description

The Tire Environmental Act Program uses funds degenerated by a flat fee assessed on the purchase of new vehicles—creating the Tire Environmental Fund—to provide grants to organizations in Tennessee for projects that best use waste tires. Projects may include tire recycling, tire-derived end products, or research and development.

Logic Model

If we are able to fund projects that make the best use of waste tires – including processing scrap tires and finding beneficial end uses for those tires – then we will reduce the amount of tire waste going to landfills as well as clean up illegal tire dump sites, and in doing so, reduce the waste burden on our environment and improve the health of our citizens.
