The Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) Program works to prevent STIs in the state of Tennessee. It monitors trends in STIs, ensures patients with STIs receive treatment, and conducts investigations to prevent and slow the spread of STIs. It works with community partners to coordinate prevention activities. The program uses evidence-based approaches including expedited partner therapy and those outlined in the CDC STI Treatment Guidelines.

The Site Development Grant Program invests in developing quality sites and the development of infrastructure plans to advance the economic development pipeline in all Tennessee communities. These programs ensure sites are ready to locate companies by providing funds to develop a site’s infrastructure, grading, etc., to enhance sites, overcome obstacles for certification or improve a certified site.

The Small Business Environmental Assistance Program supports small businesses in understanding and complying with environmental regulations related to the federal Clean Air Act and other environmental regulations in Tennessee. The program provides free confidential assistance including permitting assistance, onsite visits, training, a toll-free hotline, regulatory notifications, outreach, and support in preventing and eliminating non-compliance.

Smart Steps Child Care Payment Assistance is financial assistance available to income-eligible families who are working or enrolled in postsecondary education programs and have children from age six weeks through the start of kindergarten.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Employment and Training Program (E&T) helps eligible participants achieve their vocational goals and increase self-sufficiency through funded education, skills training, and supportive services. These services include SNAP E&T components that are offered to participants to provide them a direct link to employment. Tennessee currently offers Adult Education, Job Search Training, Subsidized Work Based Learning, Job Readiness, Work Experience, Work Readiness Training, and Job Retention services. SNAP E&T services are a combined effort between the Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS), the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD), and community partnerships. TDLWD co-enrolls customers with Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) to provide additional support services that cannot be covered under E&T.

The SOAR (SSI/SSDI, Outreach, Access, and Recovery) Liaison program plays a vital role in identifying patients ready for discharge, particularly those facing homelessness or at risk of homeless, and who are eligible for SSI/SSDI benefits. Stationed at the four Regional Mental Health Institutes, SOAR Liaisons facilitate successful SSI/SSDI applications and provide support to individuals in accessing these benefits. Their aim is to streamline the discharge process, ensuring smooth transitions into permanent housing and access to essential services.

The Social Services Block Grant (SSBG) program in Tennessee provides funding for Adult Homemaker Services and Adult Day Care services. The Solid Waste/Materials Management Technical Assistance program, as part of a larger Materials Management effort, provides technical assistance to Tennessee's 66 waste planning regions and 95 counties in the handling of problem wastes. Problem wastes include waste tires, used oil, batteries, anti-freeze, electronics, and household hazardous wastes. The program also coordinates household hazardous waste collection events, conditionally exempt small quantity generator mobile events, and the collection of used oil and waste tires.

Specialized Treatment Foster Homes are an alternative to residential settings, serving youth who need specialized care due to trauma, behavioral needs, and/or medical needs. These foster homes are led by parents with specific therapeutic and medical skills who are part of the clinical treatment team for youth who may otherwise need residential treatment facilities.

Specialty Crop Block Grants (SCBG) support specialty crop producers through funding for research, education, marketing, and innovative projects. Tennessee produces a wide range of specialty crops, and these funds enhance production and competitiveness of specialty crops, including fruits and vegetables, dried fruits, tree nuts, floriculture, and other nursery crops.

Fund Tennessee (SSBCI 2.0) supports and expands an inclusive continuum of access to capital for small businesses and entrepreneurs throughout Tennessee. Fund Tennessee includes investment capital and technical assistance for small businesses and entrepreneurs through loans and equity investments. InvestTN’s Regional Seed Fund is a $28M Tennessee-focused initiative for Pre-Seed and Seed stage startups. Up to $4 million is earmarked for 7 Regional Entrepreneurial Centers across the state serving all 95 counties. Investments range from $25,000 to $250,000. InvestTN’s Technology Fund will invest $30M into Tennessee-located companies from industries driving the state’s growing ecosystem. Investments range from $250K to $3M. InvestTN’s Multi-Fund invests in Tennessee-located and focused venture capital funds. Multi-Fund capital commitments serve as anchor investments in the first closing of a new fund, ranging in size from $1M to $3M.

SHIP helps Medicare beneficiaries (primarily aging adults and persons with disabilities) understand their Medicare benefits and the local programs and services available to them. Participants receive localized assistance from members in their community who are familiar with available services and organizations. This program also includes Medicare Improvement for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA) programming, which offers application assistance to low-income populations, as well as information on wellness programs and preventative medicine.
